Webb10 dec. 2016 · The piano is the most popular musical instrument in existence and has a very long history. When people talk about piano history, they usually say that the piano originated around the year 1700 in Florence, Italy. While that is true for the modern piano design we’re familiar with, its true origins stretch back much further. WebbThe first maker to create an instrument with hammers hitting the strings was the Italian, Cristofori, musical instrument maker to the Medici family. He had made three instruments on the style of the 'piano' by 1709. They were developed across Europe during the 18th century. The earliest ones to come to London were 'square' pianos.
